Utah County city guide

Orem

Established neighborhoods, regional shopping, university energy, leafy parks, and Mount Timpanogos making a rather convincing appearance in the background.

Hello, Orem

A connected city built from neighborhoods.

Orem grew differently from many Utah cities: farms and orchards gradually became neighborhoods connected along State Street rather than around one traditional downtown grid. The result is a city of established residential pockets with shopping, services, schools, parks, and regional destinations woven throughout.

Utah Valley University brings activity to the southwest side, while foothill neighborhoods rise toward the east. With relatively little undeveloped land remaining, Orem’s future is increasingly about thoughtful infill and reinvention—especially around major corridors—rather than endless outward expansion.

Finding your fit

Let the daily routine help choose the neighborhood.

Orem’s convenience is a major strength, but the experience changes depending on which destinations you want closest.

State Street or side streets?

Choose between quick commercial access and a quieter setting deeper inside a neighborhood.

Foothills or valley floor?

Elevation, views, routes, and lot characteristics shift as the city climbs east.

Classic or updated?

Many homes have history, so compare renovation quality, major systems, and future project ideas.

Infill and corridor redevelopment can bring fresh options, changing views, and new neighborhood energy.

Local flavor

Parks, performances, festivals, and a city that keeps everyday life close.

Oremfest takes over City Center Park each summer, and Taste of Orem turns a September day into a sampler of local food, music, art, and culture. SCERA brings movies, theater, and concerts indoors and under the stars, while UVU adds performances, sports, and campus events.

Nielsen’s Grove, the City Center Arboretum, and Mount Timpanogos Park are easy favorites when fresh air sounds better than errands. Local treats such as Hruska’s Kolaches and Cream & Sugar make a strong case for adding one more stop on the way home.
