I like to help make the process of buying a home as easy on you as possible. To get started, here are some basics you should know.

Step 1 - Pre-Qualify

In most cases you will be buying a mortgage, not a house. Getting pre-qualified for funding prior to searching for a home helps in the following ways:

  • Establishes a price range for the home you should be searching for.
  • Most homes will require a pre-qualification letter upon submitting an offer, so it’s important to have funding worked out early on.

To pre-qualify, you can contact a mortgage broker or bank of your choice. I’d personally recommend going through a mortgage broker as they will shop around and can usually get you the best loan for your individual circumstances. A few recommendations are listed below:

Step 3 - Search for Homes

Now for the fun part, searching for your dream home. Apply the criteria established in steps 1 and 2 while using the many search tools available to you. I’ll also be searching for and sending you suggestions that meet your needs. Once we find some homes we’ll go take a look and see what you think. We’ve found that viewing 5-10 usually does the trick.

Step 4 - Submit an Offer

Once you select the perfect home for you, we’ll discuss options for preparing and submitting an offer that’s just right for you and help you through any negotiations that may arise. When the offer is accepted, or “under contract”, we’ll be right at your side through the next 30 days or so to lead you through a successful transaction. It’s crucial to be diligent in performing all tasks needed in a timely manner to ensure all deadlines are met. Your lender, title company, and both agents involved will have various needs and requests at different times.
